mysql guide from sun on cost savings and case studies

Here is a mysql guide from sun.

Report says that 11 million have installed it. There are 60,000 downloads a day isn't that impressive.

But insiders from Oracle tell me a different story and they go on to the extent that open source is not a good idea as sun has proved.

But today i get a mail from sun with the mentioned report.

Are we getting back to the free os story where redhat linux is technically not to be replicated as it is copyrighted material but you are free to do as many installations. However windows equivalents were available for Rs 3,500/- while Redhat Linux was for Rs 3,800/- Thus free os was effectively more expensive and to the common man support was necessary for linux while the well researched OS from microsoft was simple to use, Which made total cost of ownership definitely more.

Like wise here would oracle 10i be a better choice to the presently offered mysql which is not free but as the report says offers cost savings in licensing, hardware and support.
